The Gold standard in Outdoor Medical Training

Participants will develop strong patient assessment skills, learn treatment methods to stabilize life-threatening conditions, and learn how to provide extended patient care in backcountry environments. This training will prepare individuals to prevent many environmental illnesses and proactively manage pre-existing conditions in the field. Individuals will also develop the confidence to professionally manage and call in a rescue evacuation in the event of a backcountry emergency or trauma event.

The WFR curriculum combines a balance of lecture and hands-on learning. Days are full of targeted demonstrations, skills stations, scenarios, drills, simulations, and discussions. The course format allows for the development of a strong teamwork dynamics. Teams developing quickly throughout the group. This simulates the experience of a true backcountry expedition and reveals individual group members potential to utilize their knowledge and skills in dealing with an emergency.

Where there is action there is the potential for emergency situations. After completing the WFR course You will have the skills and confidence to evaluate and handle most medical and trauma related incidents that happen in the wilderness setting.
